You tell us the room, the rough footprint in centimetres, and whether you lean toward a knotted pile, a flatweave kilim, or a felted runner. Photos of the space help more than a written description.
We post a swatch card with the wool and silk blends under consideration, plus undyed natural greys and the indigo or walnut tones you asked about. Allow about a week for delivery within South Africa.
Once the palette is settled, we agree on the pattern and the construction. A lotus or cloud border reads differently at 60 knots than at 100, so we show both before anything goes on the loom.
The rug is woven by hand in the Kathmandu valley or a Nepali workshop, depending on the weave. Custom sizes typically run eight to sixteen weeks on the loom, and we send progress photos along the way.
Back in Johannesburg we wash, stretch, and trim the pile, then bind the selvedge and cut the fringe. Any small adjustments to the border or the ends happen here rather than at the loom.
The rug leaves with a written note on rotation, underlay, and dry cleaning of wool. If you would rather see it in person first, we can hold it for a showroom viewing.

Send floor plans or room dimensions and we work back to a size that fits the space rather than the other way around. You choose knot density, palette and motif; we confirm the loom time in weeks and the finished measurements in centimetres before weaving starts.
If you buy for a shop or a hospitality project, we put together a curated set of flatweave kilims and felted wool runners drawn from what is on the floor now. Each piece is listed with weave, pile height and fibre content, so you can build an order without a second round of questions.
